Wrapped Up in You

Wrapped Up in You

Score: 4/5 Bookmarks

Steam Rating: 🍆🍆 /5

If you’ve been here before you know what a big fan of Talia Hibbert I am, so I read her latest holiday novella Wrapped Up in You the day it came out. Or rather, I listened to the audiobook. It was such a cozy, sweet holiday romance to curl up with in front of the fire.

Our leading lady is Abbie Farrell, who is in love with her best friend (and sexy movie star) William Reid. They’re spending Christmas together at Grandma Farrell’s house in Scotland, but as much as Will wants to tell Abbie that he’s actually in love with her, she’s trying to deny her own feelings and keep them as friends.

They’ve both suffered heartache before, and Abbie went through a divorce that left her feeling hurt and cautious. Throw in Abbie’s grandma, a huge snow-storm, a clowder of cats and nothing can possibly go wrong….

I loved both of the characters, and adore the way the author creates such likable and real people in her books. However, I didn’t find myself as invested in what happened to them as I usually am when reading her books. I might have put it down to being a novella, where there isn’t as much time to really get to know them and their backstory, but I recently read Hibbert’s Halloween novella Mating the Huntress and I fell completely in love with both characters in a short amount of time so I don’t think that was necessarily it. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed this book immensely, but maybe there just wasn’t quite as much tension, depth, or undefinable ‘magic sparkle’ as I’ve come to expect from this author. It’s definitely worth a read before the year is up though, so grab yourself some hot chocolate (preferably with a ridiculous amount of marshmallows and a candy-cane or four) and settle in.

If you’re wondering about the steam rating, there weren’t a lot of sexy-times in this book, it was more about the tension build-up, which was still pretty hot, while also being incredibly sweet.

And if audiobooks are more your thing this one came in at just under four hours and was wonderfully narrated by Selina Scott-Bennin and Philip Batley. Really, they did a fabulous job!

Both the eBook and the audiobook are only available via Kobo. But if you don’t have a Kobo reader you can download the app to an android or iOS device. Grab a copy of the audiobook here, or click the button below to get the eBook.

Synopsis:

William Reid is nothing special, except for his billion-dollar acting career and his, you know, face. (Apparently, it’s a good one.) Winning ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ was nice, but this Christmas, he has more important goals in mind... like finally winning over his best friend’s little sister, the super-smart and kinda-scary Abbie Farrell.

When a blizzard leaves Will and Abbie alone at Grandma Farrell’s house (if bunking with 27 pets counts as ‘alone’), it’s the perfect opportunity to pull off a Christmas miracle. Convincing clever, frosty Abbie to give Will a chance will take more than mistletoe, but hiding his lifelong crush on her is no longer an option.
