Oh my, what a hilarious, refreshing, and super-steamy read. Mating the Huntress is Talia Hibbert’s first paranormal romance, and in her Author’s Note says she wrote it as a little reset, to refresh her brain between novels, and that’s exactly what it did for me too. I quite literally couldn’t put it down, and by the end my husband was thoroughly sick of my outbursts of snort laughing and constant, gleeful chuckling.

Chastity Adofo comes from a family of huntresses, and she knows a monster when she sees one. So when Luke Anthony starts hanging out at her family’s coffee shop, she recognises the evil lurking beneath that hot (actually...hot hot hot) exterior. The werewolf is smitten with her, but can he woo her before she cuts out his heart?

I started highlighting passages that I found particularly amusing, but then realized I was likely going to highlight the entire book and should probably stop. The juxtaposition of attraction, mixed with murderous lust and a desire to kill was just so perfectly done. It’s impossible to choose just one favorite quote, but here are a couple of passages that tickled me.

“She threw more silver over him, and Luke remembered that he was supposed to be fighting for his life, or whatever. But she was just one tiny little huntress. He had time to ogle her for a bit.”

”He’d intended to find and spank his mate for fucking up a perfectly good coffee table with her WWE shenanigans, and also to have a serious conversation with her about how loving couples shouldn’t stab each other.”

“He feigned exasperation, even as his heart swelled. She’d admitted her attraction; she’d hinted at feeling more; and now, his bloodthirsty little murderess was openly reluctant to end his existence. Progress!”

I just adore how strong and stubborn and real Talia’s leading ladies always are, and that their love interests value and admire those traits. This was absolutely the perfect read for a Halloween that also falls on a full moon, tying in nicely with the storyline. Plus it’s a quick read at only 135 pages.

If you haven’t read this one, do yourself a favor and get a copy pronto! Here’s hoping Talia will write more in her Monsters and Mates series soon!

Little does she know, Luke’s plans for her are far more pleasurable than murder. And when the full moon rises, all bets are off…
