Thank you to Kensington Books and Recorded Books for my gifted copies of Twenty Years Later by Charlie Donlea.

This is a mystery in a mystery in a mystery. I loved all the twists and turns the story took, moving between current day and the past. I also really enjoyed the characters and learning more about them as each new piece of information unfolded. They felt real to me, and each of them had done honorable and questionable things in their lives and were living with the results of their decisions. I don't want to say too much for fear of giving anything away, but I really enjoyed this one and if you like a twisty mystery I'd definitely recommend Twenty Years Later.

I really enjoyed the audio narration too. It's performed by Vivienne Leheny and is just under 11 hours. You might recognize her voice from Last Girl Ghosted, The Collective, and loads more.

Do be aware that 9/11 is a big part of the story, so if that is difficult for you to read about, approach with caution.

Synopsis:

Mason, host of American Events, knows the subjects that grab a TV audience's attention. Her latest story—a murder mystery laced with tragedy, and betrayal—is guaranteed to be ratings gold. New DNA technology has allowed the New York medical examiner's office to make its first successful identification of a 9/11 vic in years. The twist: the vic, Victoria Ford, had been accused of something truly terrible. In a chilling last phone call to her sister, Victoria begged her to prove her innocence.
