Thanks to Avon Books and Harper Audio for gifting me review copies of Dating Dr Dil by Nisha Sharma. This is the first in the series: If Shakespeare was an Auntie

Kareena Mann is looking for a love match, but on a time crunch. Her father is selling their home, which is all wrapped up in the memory of Kareena's mother. She wants to buy it, but she'll need some help. The only way she can get her hands on the money her father has saved for her, is if she gets engaged.

Dr Prem Verma is a cardiologist and TV show host, who doesn't believe in love. He argues that it's a bunch of chemical reactions and shouldn't be the basis for determining a life partner.

Through a series of unfortunate coincidences, Kareena damages Prem's public reputation, leaving him without the trust of the investors he needs to build a community health center. Could Kareena also be the one to help him repair his rep?

I really loved both Kareena and Prem's characters, and I felt like they grew so much throughout the story. It was heartbreaking to see how horribly Kareena's family treated her though, and watch them walk all over her. There were also a lot of cultural traditions being forced on the younger generation by older family members. I just kept thinking how difficult it must be to try and balance the tradition with living in a modern society.

This book was Steamy (yes with a capital S) which I hadn't expected but was totally here for. 😂 I thought this book was the perfect blend of hilarity, and tugging at your heartstrings. Definitely one you'll want to add to your TBR if you haven't already.

The audiobook was great too, and came in at 10 hours and 49 minutes. It was performed by Soneela Nankani and Vikas Adam. Soneela has narrated a bunch of my favorite audiobooks, and while I liked Vikas' performance of the male voice, I didn't love his female dialogue unfortunately.

Synopsis:

Dating Dr. Dil features a love-phobic TV doctor who must convince a love-obsessed homebody they are destined to be together.

Kareena Mann dreams of having a love story like her parents, but she prefers restoring her classic car to swiping right on dating apps. When her father announces he’s selling her mother’s home, Kareena makes a deal with him: he’ll gift her the house if she can get engaged in four months. Her search for her soulmate becomes impossible when her argument with Dr. Prem Verma, host of The Dr. Dil Show, goes viral. Now the only man in her life is the one she doesn’t want.

Dr. Prem Verma is dedicated to building a local community health center, but he needs to get donors with deep pockets. The Dr. Dil Show was doing just that, until his argument with Kareena went viral, and he’s left short changed. That’s when Kareena’s meddling aunties presented him with a solution: convince Kareena he’s her soulmate and they’ll fund his clinic.

Even though they have conflicting views on love-matches and arranged-matches, the more time Prem spends with Kareena, the more he begins to believe she’s the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with. But for Prem and Kareena to find their happily ever after, they must admit that hate has turned into fate.
