Score: 5/5 Bookmarks

Thank you to the author, Morgan Liphart, for gifting me a review copy of Barefoot and Running. I decided I needed a physical copy for myself because I enjoyed it so much.

Colorado is in my blood too. I wasn't born there but it calls out to me like a home I didn't realize I was yearning for. The author's poem titled Part II: Arriving spoke to me immediately and I felt seen and understood.

I felt craving, desire, nostalgia, and also a sense of peace throughout these poems, and each one of them moved me in a different way. Each word is crafted so carefully and paints such a vivid picture you’ll be able to see yourself there, and feel those same feelings.

If you enjoy poetry, I highly recommend you grab a copy of this sweet collection.

Synopsis:

Barefoot and Running follows a young woman’s journey from the plains of the Midwest to the mountains of Colorado. Through this journey, readers discover deep healing found in wild spaces and bear witness to the tenacity of the human heart.

Through her lyrical and vivid style, Morgan sweeps readers up into a collection of poems that are equally beautiful and heartbreaking, both powerful and remarkably tender.

This chapbook has earned its place on the bookshelves of poetry lovers everywhere, where it can be a beacon of hope gently guiding readers back to themselves. It serves as a tender reminder that everything you need is already inside of you and you can always, always begin again.
